On this episode, we have Sarah with us. We talk about purity culture, the purity movement of the 90’s and early 2000’s and how that still affects us today. Sarah also paints for us a new stroke on what to think about our sexual selves.
Sarah graduated from a Theological Seminary in 2017 with her M.A. in Theology. She is a frequent chapel speaker at her Christian University, and was a founding member of GRIT, the school’s first women’s resource collective. She’s passionate about loving mercy, doing justly, and avoiding becoming a smokin’ hot pastor’s wife.

Jim and Roe have been married 44 years, Jim owns his own business and is a career coach and a futurist . Roe is adjunct faculty and a staff spiritual director at a local seminary. Both of them are very involved with Treasures, a nonprofit that serves trafficked victims and women coming out of the sex industry. Through Treasures, Roe has been in 6 different countries training or working with women in the sex industry. And for the past 20 years, they have mentored couples struggling with sexual brokenness!

On this episode, Jacob shares his story and some of his heart for those who identify as gay in the Christian world. Jacob holds to a “traditional” sexual ethic in terms of homosexuality. But, you might just be surprised on why he says we need to nuance that stance more than some have in the past.
Jacob graduated with a Master’s degree in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry as well as a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and Theology. He currently serves as a youth pastor and has a huge passion for people to meet their creator and experience his love and grace for them. He also loves plant-based foods, but that’s for a different podcast.

On this episode, Carrie shares with us her perspective on singleness and why the church has often ostracized them. She gives us encouragement, as well as a holistic vision for what the Christian world of relationships should look like.
Carrie serves as the Dean of Student Success at Biola University and has worked at the university since 2001. In her current role as Dean, she oversees Academic Advising, Career Development, Online/Graduate Success, Undergraduate Retention, the Rhetoric & Writing Center, and the English Language Program.
Carrie has a B.A. in Business/Economics from Wheaton College, an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Biola University, and a Ph.D. from Azusa Pacific University in Higher Education. Her dissertation explored the experiences of male advocates of women presidents in Christian higher education.
In other words, Carrie has a lot of wisdom and experience for us to learn from. I am so excited for you to hear from him in this episode and for the Hope it may bring you.

He has also served as an educator for relationship and sexual violence prevention at UC Irvine, as well as a movement organizer and digital communications manager for the nonprofit Man Up Campaign.
